Aside from being an American model, a New York Times Bestseller author to her acclaimed cook book “Cravings: Recipes For All The Food You Want To Eat and co-hosting Lip Sync Battle, Chrissy Teigen is widely known for her refreshingly uncensored and unapologetic view on motherhood. Here are some moments where Chrissy Teigen gets real on all things motherhood.
1. Breastfeeding Is Not A Walk In The Park
“The feeding schedule surprised me a lot,” she divulged to ET. “If you kind of do the math, you’re kind of breastfeeding for 10 hours a day total. It’s very loving and sweet, but it’s not easy. It’s hard to work your entire day around getting her the nourishment she needs because they are just little animals.”
2. Embrace Your Post-Pregnancy Figure
“I’m only four weeks out from birth, so I still have a couple more weeks before I can work out—which is fine with me,” Chrissy elaborates to ET. “I love the feeling of working out, but I’ve never been a gym rat, ever, so now it’s all about taking in what I can if it’s good for the baby because it all translates to her in a way
3. Moms Have Social Lives Too
After being a new mom for a week and a half, Chrissy Teigen was slammed by critics for going out for dinner with her husband, John Legend over the weekend. “I went to dinner. People are pissed. Good morning!” she tweeted the next morning. Thankfully, Chrissy Teigen handled criticism with humor when she joked “she couldn’t find her daughter” when she was asked how her daughter was doing.
4. Being A Mom Shifts Your Perspective
“It does seem all silly now. Like, anything that you got frustrated over about before, nothing really matters anymore. And I think you just let things go a little more,” she told ET. “It is hard when it turns to people… are grading you on your personal decisions. You just realize you’ll never make everyone happy… I’m learning to let things roll off my back a bit easier. I have more important things going on now.”
5. Dealing with Postpartum Depression
“I also just didn’t think it could happen to me. I have a great life. I have all the help I could need: John, my mother (who lives with us), a nanny. But postpartum does not discriminate.” She explains to Glamour. “I couldn’t control it. And that’s part of the reason it took me so long to speak up: I felt selfish, icky, and weird saying aloud that I’m struggling. Sometimes I still do.
6. Pay No Mind To The Haters
Being a mom is never easy. On top of taking care of a little human now, you’re now also the subject of unwarranted advice and criticism on how to raise your baby, on what-to-do and what-not-to-do’s, etc. If you’re feeling the pressure of this, follow the Chrissy Teigen style of not giving a frick. However, if there’s one person who pays attention to the remarks, it’s her husband, John Legend. “John said, “Funny there’s no dad-shaming. When both of us go out to dinner, shame both of us so Chrissy doesn’t have to take it all. We’ll split it.”
7. Soak In All The Precious Little Moments
According to Chrissy Teigen, the little moments count the most as much as the bigger milestones. “But it’s the little smiles that get you… There is no feeling like that first little smile, your first Mother’s Day, which was so beautiful and sweet to me. The entire day my eyes were on the verge of tears because I was so happy.”
